50 Lives 50 Homes

Ruah is the lead agency of the 50 Lives 50 Homes program, WA’S first Housing First initiative –focusing on providing housing for the most vulnerable rough sleepers and supporting them with key wrap around support to reduce their risk of returning to homelessness.
Collaboration is a core component of the 50 Lives 50 Homes program with more than 30 participating organisations spanning the community, housing, health and justice sectors working together to support the State’s rough sleepers – all with a shared goal of ending homelessness in Western Australia.
Since launching in 2015 with an initial target of providing 50 homes to 50 people, the program has:

• Provided homes to 237 people across 186 properties
• Achieved a total tenancy retention rate of 81.5% representing 88,000 days of permanent accommodation provided since the program commenced
• Supported 176 clients with wrap-around support through the After-Hours Support Service (AHSS)
The above results have been published in the 50 Lives 50 Homes Third Evaluation Report compiled by the Centre for Social Impact and School of Population and Growth from The University of Western Australia.
